Bridgehead Consulting worked with a Scandinavian Investment Bank to deliver a due diligence on a company who possesses proprietary technologies based around the production of highly specific binding compounds.

The objectives for the client

The company was pursuing research in a number of fields to apply these compounds in therapeutics, pharmaceutical production and proteomics. The company was seeking to raise capital to support its research programmes and develop current technology into products. To assist this process, an independent review of the revenue generating potential of the company's technology was required.

The programme of work

Bridgehead Consulting successfully evaluated the commercial prospects for the technology of the company using telephone and face-to-face interviews with technology users in this sector and representatives of current partner companies. The evaluation included:

  • a description of the technology

  • an overview of the potential applications/markets for the technology in each of the four different sectors

  • an overview of competing technologies

  • an assessment of the competitive position of the technology

  • a description of the commercialisation plans, targets and achievements to date

  • an assessment of the commercialisation plans and targets through identification of potential partners and benchmarking with comparable companies and technologies.

 

The deliverables to the client

  • A comparison of the company's technology with similar technologies, highlighting advantages over the other technologies.

  • An evaluation of the attractiveness, competitive position and commercial potential for each of the applications.

  • A benchmarking report providing information for potential deal flow/value and value of the company.

 

The project achievements

  • The programme allowed the informed targeting of 'best fit' sectors that would allow the client to achieve their strategic and investor goals.

  • The informed nature of the work gained investor support.
