Bridgehead International provides Experts’
Report for listing of Napo Pharmaceuticals Inc on the Main
Market of the London Stock Exchange
On July 31st 2006 Napo Pharmaceuticals Inc., (LSE: NAPL ),
announced its admission to trading on the Main Market of the
London Stock Exchange through a placing and subscription with
proceeds of £11.9 million before expenses. Nomura Code
Securities Limited acted as the sponsor, financial adviser
and broker. Napo is the first US incorporated company to IPO
exclusively on London's Main Market.
Napo is focused on developing and commercializing proprietary
pharmaceuticals for the global marketplace, in collaboration
with local partners, in order to address major global unmet
medical needs in developed and developing countries. Napo
is currently developing a plant extract, known as crofelemer,
for four indications including chronic diarrhoea in people
living with HIV/AIDS, diarrhoea-predominant irritable bowel
syndrome (D-IBS), paediatric diarrhoea and acute infectious
diarrhoea.
The Company's partners include Trine Pharmaceuticals Inc.,
Glenmark Pharmaceuticals of Mumbai, India, and the AsiaPharm
Group Ltd., headquartered in Singapore and Shanghai. Napo
also has a medicinal product library of over 2,300 plants,
which is the subject of pre-clinical discovery collaboration.
Bridgehead International carried out independent due diligence
on behalf of Napo and Nomura Code Securities in the form of
what is known as the 'Experts' Report', which was published
in the Listing Document.
The publication of a report of this type satisfies regulatory
requirements, but it is the process leading up to its preparation
that adds real value. Bridgehead’s expert consultants
review many aspects of the Company's technical and commercial
operations and, during the process, the Company and its Advisors
gain an insight into concerns that potential investors are
likely to have. The Company then has the chance, in advance
of publication of the prospectus, either to take action to
avoid these concerns arising or to have available the information
or plans to address them.
Bridgehead is widely recognised as the leading provider of
independent reports to support fundraising for in the pharmaceutical
and medical device fields in the UK, it has also worked with
companies raising finance in the USA, Scandinavia and Far
East. Some of the companies that Bridgehead has reviewed as
part of stock market listings and other investment rounds
are: AGI Therapeutics plc, Lombard Medical plc, Vectura Group
plc, Inion Ltd, ProStrakan Group plc, Alizyme plc Cardiomag
Imaging Inc, GeneMedix plc, GW Pharmaceuticals plc, Akers
Bioscience Inc and CustomVis plc.
